His background also includes significant experience in civil rights advocacy, having served as a legal extern and pro bono counsel for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, focusing on racial justice, police brutality, and economic justice.

Cristobal earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Senior Editor for Columbia Law Review and received honors as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar for his academic excellence. He also served as Vice-President of the Latin American Law Students Association.
